Registration opens at 8:30a and closes at the after the 1st run of the 1st event. Exhaust must be closed.

This was the first time I've been to this event in a couple of years. And it was a great sight to see, and hear. A terrific turnout of Corvettes for a beautiful Saturday race. (I didn't go on Sunday due to another event.) You could hear the Vettes from all around the track, and it attracted some spectators from the nearby ice skating complex just from the sounds. A friend stopped by on his bike during the break and missed hearing the sounds of these monsters so I shot some video.

The course was fast (very, very fast by local autocross standards) with the fastest times breaking 33 seconds. Many drivers were hitting the top of third gear before the last slalom.

It was great to see my friends in the Valley Vettes Corvette Club as well as some new friends from Nashville and all over the nation. It was Corvette comradery at its best with everyone helping each other out, even if it was just to push a locked engine c4 onto a trailer.

If you come to one of these events as a spectator, be aware of your surroundings and watch constantly for cars. These cars travel as high speeds, so always keep plenty of distance and never turn your back to one. For the best viewing experience, I would recommend bringing some high-powered binoculars and watching from the gazebo.

It's the first time in years I've been out to see these guys, and it was great to see all the usual suspects still riding hard. It was great turnout for a ride on a lovely day. Some beautiful bikes from Aprillia, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki graced the Sonic parking lot while energetic riders waited for everyone else to arrive. And it seems everyone with a bike was riding today--groups of cruisers rode down Jordan Lane while we chilled in the Sonic parking lot.

Here's the official plan:

We're leaving Geno's parking lot at or before 12:29 pm. We'll cruise to Ft. Payne to get gas and regroup, then we'll head up into the park.

Geno's opens at 11, so I'm planning to be there right at 11 to get lunch before we leave.

For the HSVillains, I'll be leaving the N. Parkway Lowe's parking lot at 10:30. You're welcome to come along. If other guys want to set up other meeting points, of course feel free to.

The day could not have been more perfect for a cruise and a drive on some mountain roads. And apparently it was a great day for a lot of other enthusiasts as well. A Mercedes g500, a Hummer, and dune buggies were just some of the other vehicles we ran across besides the endless motorcycles.

In Scottsboro, more drivers joined us and we had equal representation of Mustangs, Neon SRT4s, BMWs, and Subarus, making for an almost 20 car mixed-crowd cruise to Fort Payne. Along the way, cameras peered out of cars as we took photos of each other. I got some good rolling shots, but not one of each car like I wanted. If anyone is interested in having these types of shots made of their car, feel free to get in touch with me.

The drive to Little River Canyon felt like the shortest part of the day with small stops along the way to fuel up our cars or ourselves. Gas stations were periodically overrun with our group of cars. Maneuvering our little train of cars through traffic lights without being broken up proved to be a bit of a challenge. We did lose some cars for a bit, but once we stopped at the large overlook, everyone caught up and we proceeded to drive.

Unfortunately, the road must be no secret as it was packed full of other cars and bikes enjoying the drive through the mountain roads. It wasn't like this on the weekday when vehicular drove it.

We regrouped at a turnaround spot and took a few group photos before proceeding to head back to the overlook where we first stopped. There was some discussion about a rock in the middle of the road so some drivers went to examine the feasibility. In the end, there was no feasibility. I waited for the results and enjoyed the humor of sti2k5. Entertaining as always. Maryna and I also stepped a bit off the beaten path to take some pictures of her.

People started heading back as the sun started to set. The drive back to Scottsboro was not too bad, but as the evening started to set in, the weariness of the day started to set in as well. A great and exahusting day.

Special thanks goes out to AF8LTA for taking some of these pictures and shooting some video on my other camera.
