Well, just wanting to keep this thread going. I just received the Comptech Header and Ice Box. :D I will have pictures later on, and they will be installed by the end of the week. Still have 30 out of 50 flyers left , so if you want to help spread the word around let me know.

Cool. Let's see some pics of that Comptech stuff. :)

Ok here are the pics:
Comptech Ice Box

I still have to get the filter and the connector elbow. I tried to fit it in my car, but it looks that I have to bent some hard lines and relocate the overflow radiator bottle
Comptech Stainless Steel Header

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...9/PDR_0053.jpg
It's one pice 4-2-1 design, TIG welded, very nice craftmenship, 1.75" primaries with a 2.25" collector.

Header does look like a well constructed, quality piece. Was the Ice box designed for a different model Civic?

Yes, it was intended for an Integra GSR / Type R. The thing is that for 92-95 Honda Civic, Comptech products have been discontinued for 10 years, so parts are hard to find. I know that the OEM GSR / Integra air box fits 92-95 Civics, the Comptech one is supposed to replace the factory unit, so 1+1= it should fit my car. Also, the Comptech Ice box has a similar design with Mugen, and the Mugen one requires bending the hardlines. Anyway I will try to make it fit.

OK, so this past week-end I've installed the header, but this morning I got the engine light on. I suspect to be the O2 sensor since I have to extend the wiring. well that's about it.
CADster: sorry for your copper prelude, let me know if you need help building the motor.

it was going to happen. the motor has issues when i bought it. i knew this and why i got the car so cheap.

it will just get freshened up over the winter and will be stronger then ever come spring.

respect'89 October 17th 01:06 PM

Well, just a little update. My car's engine light comes on randomly, so last night I checked for CEL codes and sure enough my car is throwing code 43 Fuel Supply System. Everything was running fine before I extended the O2 harness, so I suspect its the O2. Anyway the prices for an O2 sensor are between $186 - $210, but if you go on www.rywire.com they have the denso O2 sensor for $75 + $25 for the extension harness.

Question: what are you guys using for tunning?

CADster October 17th 01:13 PM

On the red one or the copper one, or both? I'm just asking because I would like to smooth out the power curve and maybe get some extra horses. I'm not going to say what shop, but I was told that with only a header and intake I would not be able to get anything from tunning (true?), they also recomended the Apexi Air-Fuel controller, but you told me that it does not help much. Oh and how do you like using Crome?

I have and know many people that have used HONDATA, and I personnally like the quality of it. You have the tunability of a stand alone kit with not as many complications, although if you are into tuning that much you should just go with MegaSquirt or Chrome or some standalone system such as!

CADster October 17th 03:14 PM

crome - http://www.tunewithcrome.com/menu.html
only on the copper lude. red has no tuning .. that one is all stock.

respect'89 October 17th 03:27 PM

OK, got some more questions. Is it worth it to tune my car? Again I was told that it would not do anything on my car with a header and an intake and that I should look into a A/F controller and that about it.

Thanks for the link CADster.

CADster October 17th 03:49 PM

for daily driving, getting groceries, getting the kids from school, etc. ?

i would say no. but getting a real tune will unlock a good bit of horsepower.
