There's a whole geneation coming up that you'll have to explain that to. Hyundai and Kia have turned into the Honda and Toyota of yesteryear.

Looks like 389 ft.lbs from the dyno chart.

dmcmahan12 December 19th 11:41 AM

Thanks man I did not even see that.

JoshB December 19th 11:44 AM

No problem. The font is pretty small lol.. But this car looks pretty sweet for a Hyundai.

2SSRSinBama December 19th 07:28 PM

label me not impressed? how long has this car been out? and they are just NOW getting those kind of numbers? with enough money, you can make ridiculous horsepower out of about anything... I mean they've gotten 800+whp out of the stock block of a 2.0L ecotec and GM really just got serious about 4-cylinders in the mid-2000s...

I mean I guess its good they started with around 200whp and made something of it but I would have thought with enough boost and some forged internals, it'd be well over 600whp... and those torque numbers state it all: dyno queen, lol

as one can tell, i'm just not a fan of the Korean cars... as far as a new crowd coming up being into them, I survived the Honda fad of the late 90s/early 2000s and at least they had some 400+whp builds in sub-2500 lb cars... this little fad looks like its heading for disaster before the game even starts, lol

The motor is pretty much the 4B11 which is the same motor in the Evo X's. To my knowledge, the Evo X's don't have a lot of luck when shooting for high HP either. Most of the issues with that car, though, lies in the transmission going out at high HP numbers.

You also have to think that this is Hyundai's FIRST "sports car". (or sport compact, however you want to phrase it) It's definitely not a bad start and can only improve from here.

Meh, I was expecting more. That curve doesn't look to great either from that small bit I can see. Probably still a pretty fun car but hard to believe sub-600 is the bar to beat.

Beckham December 20th 11:03 AM

World's highest HP Evo X that I can find is 806whp.

AMS's Evo X only made 782hp and ran a 10.1 1/4mile.

Yeah the power band looks pretty harsh. Bet at 3000 rpm it will put your head in the seat.

racinfast002 December 20th 11:26 AM

lolz 500 hp is "world record" setting

Wilson! December 20th 01:52 PM

how many people in this tread have a car that makes a legitimate 500hp?
hard to laugh at a hp number that high if your not making at least that yourself......

Beckham December 20th 02:07 PM

Well said, Jesse.

but I made more torque with an ecotec turbo on the stock turbo ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBTLH...gWCATAN707m9fw

367ft-lbs to be exact, and making it at 3200rpm... sure only 331whp, but still... not even in the top 1000 of ecotecs, lol

and the fact it is so close to the World I4 found in the Evo is why i'm shocked by the numbers.. i'm not knocking the car, 580+whp is a ridiculous amount of whp for a street car, but its just shocking that number sets the bar as highest whp

You finance it, I can build a 500 pony car easy.

Beckham December 21st 10:55 AM

If someone else finances it, ANYONE can build a 500hp car Justin.

dragginbody87 December 21st 11:03 AM

Not if you have no arms.

If you're using someone else's money, you can just pay someone else to build it for you... :D
