You should get Jeff to be an advertiser on HCS. :D A single job will pay for the whole year. That's a really great ROI. :)

lol. Somehow I see 'swap old stock engine back into car' as a more realistic option. I wouldn't want to build that engine and then demod it.

Sounds like I'll be seeing a lot of you two this year! :D

Samir February 4th 12:59 PM

Since my life always has me choking up hairballs that clog my plan, I'll make two lists. :D

What I want to do:
  • Replace the upper timing chain tensioner in my brother's old Altima
  • Replace both axles in my brother's old Altima
  • Run the FSM transmission test in my brother's old Altima
  • Install the a-arm brace on my brother's old Altima that's been sitting here beside the computer for over a year and write a review
  • Get new Bridgestones for my brother's old Altima
  • Get replacement parts for the damage the C&K Roofing illegals did to my brother's old Altima, and make the story thread public so google can help people know about their employment practices
  • Replace the thermostat in my brother's old Altima and do a coolant flush
  • Replace all dead bulbs with LEDs in my brother's old Altima
  • Move other Nissans to storage place once the RV is out, and make lists of work for them.

What I will realistically do:
  • Maybe replace the upper timing chain tensioner in my brother's old Altima if I can ever figure out if I can really do it myself without messing up the head gasket seal.
  • Maybe run the FSM transmission test in my brother's old Altima if it returns to daily service after the timing chain tensioner is fixed.
  • Get new Bridgestones for my brother's old Altima if the car sees the road as a daily driver this year
  • Make the C&K Roofing story thread public so google can help people know about their employment practices of hiring illegals
  • Replace the thermostat in my brother's old Altima and do a coolant flush if the car returns to daily driving

Realistically, I will build the motor, install it, tune it and dyno, probably pull it out and sell it. I honestly don't see my son getting into modding and racing.

Plus the current motor has nearly 140k on it and it still as strong as the day I drove it off the lot in Decatur. I see it lasting another 100k.

Demodding will include:
- returning to a stock header back exhaust (selling the Cattman Gen II Headers and 3" Cattman Exhaust)
- returning to a stock airbox, TB, IM Elbow, Upper IM, Lower IM, stock injectors (selling CAI, TB, IM, etc)
- removing Greddy EMU and Zeitronix WB (and gauge) (selling)
- removing short throw, return to stock shifter bushings (selling)
- replacing stock motor mounts, subframe bushings (selling)
- removing grounding kit (selling)
- removing Tokico Whites replacing with stock

I'll probably leave the following on the car:
- 18x8 Mille Miglia Evo5 Wheels
- Eibach Pro Springs
- Rear antisway bar
- Front strut tower bar

Tanro February 4th 10:49 PM

Painting my Talon rear end.
Painting and Installing side slashes.
Finding, Painting, and installing a 2gb Talon front.
Fixing the spoiler hole patch job.
Modding my headlights to fit a talon bumper, and then installing some Bi-Xenon projectors, probably morimoto mini d2s or mini h1.
Fuel System upgrade -8 AN Tank to rail, AEM AFPR, 950cc FICs, whinebro 255lph.
Switch to GM 3" MAF
Tune for 300-350 whp.

Looking to sink another 2-3 grand in the exterior and performance this year.

6spd_Hayes February 4th 10:52 PM

Progress up to Feb 4, 2012:
- headers removed
- TB, IM removed
- Thermostat removed
- Exterior ports taped up
- Valve covers removed

Progress for Feb 4, 2012:
- Oil drained
- Steel Oil Pan removed
- Timing Chain Cover removed
- Old RTV removed from mating surface on engine for timing chain cover

Man that is a lot of work to go into the car and then just undo all of it so your son can drive it.

Why not find him something with a bit less of your blood sweat and tears in to for a first car?

I was kinda thinking the same thing. Let him drive it as is for just a bit, or just get another Maxima just like it for him to drive until he sells it and gets what he really wants. I know you'll miss that Maxima, even with a Z, especially with the work that will be in it.

Lots of work to put DSM parts on a Nissan. :D

I should be getting my window tint and double din in 2 or 3 weeks.... Hopefully my sub box and sub installed also!

dragginbody87 February 6th 11:09 AM

Might as well get the blue LED conversion while it's all torn apart. You know you don't want to have to set your head unit to bright orange. ;)
