Man Loses $22,000 In New 'Policing For Profit' Case
In the old days, thugs like this would be tarred and feathered or worse. Here's to hoping for a return to the old days.

Very sad that this is allowed to happen in the US. If I had been told of this without being given the location I would have thought it happened in China!

That's insane.
![]() Might as well take everything as he could also trade his car for drugs or a nice watch or jewelry. Another reason we can't ever have anything nice.

I heard about this a year ago, there is video on youtube of two police agencies(the local police and the Tennessee State troopers) FIGHTING over a seizure of money... I mean, it almost came to blows
hey look, I found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTeH9D_tN-k

Reason #2 why I will never live in TN and avoid driving or staying in the state at all costs.
Reason #1 being asinine laws about "drag racing" when you are just driving normally, by yourself. |

You know almost every state has these laws in place, right?

Not quite to the level that TN does. At the officer's discretion you can technically be deemed as drag racing if you accelerate by yourself quickly from a stop light. Even if you don't burn out or even break the speed limit.
If you are legitimately and blatantly drag/street racing...yes, of course. They have laws in place for that and at that point I don't see any problems with most of the consequences. |

TX has the "drag racing" law you mentioned, but I was more referring to your "Reason #2".

well i'm sure there are states that have similar laws... and for good reason... but its a matter of how you go about ENFORCING this law that makes it an issue... if its a known drug area and you are investigating someone and during a search of said person find $75,000 cash... that is one thing
to patrol the interstate like vultures hoping to find some cash for the department, that is another

Especially when you prey on out of state residents knowing they will be less likely to be involved and actually reclaim their "confiscated" money/belongings.

Reason #45968 I don't and will never trust cops. We were profiled on the way to a festival in Michigan and fortunately everything was dropped in court because the cops were found to be profiling us. Never go to Indiana if you aren't a redneck country bumpkin.

This is scary. And our forefathers had the intelligence to allow us to bear arms against bullys like this. Too bad Homeland Security destroyed that. I'm going to leave all my cash at home when going through TN. Bad people.

Its sad when you cant even carry your own money around with you through an American state. Things like this make me wonder about where parts of our country are headed
