What's the model number of the old camera?

I've used several Nikon rigs over the years from the D3000-5000s to the Fuji D200 equivalent. Still backward for me compared to the Canon 50D I rented for my first trip to Indy and the Rebel t2i I use for TopEnd.tv. Just personal preference. I prefer PCs to Macs too, and buttons versus a touchscreen on my phone. I'm different like that.

One of the features I really like on my Olympus was dual dials that allowed me to change shutter/aperture very quickly in manual mode. That was great for setting the exposure as you're framing the shot. Nikons have dual dials too, but I like the Canon setup that uses one dial and a thumbwheel. Seems to work even better for me.

D3000-5000 are entry level camera's and don't compare to the D700 in the least bit. And the D200 is well... dated.

See, I HATE the thumb wheel on a canon, It is not where I want my thumb to be when I'm taking a picture.

As far as selling P&S's, I hardly ever see them being sold. Not worth the time on even trying.

Have they changed the controls that much? I haven't touched one of the newer ones. Maybe held a D700 for a few minutes, but that was about it.

Yeah, I know a lot of people complain about it, but it's heaven for me. I also use a trackball with a thumb-oriented control, so my thumbs are used to working a lot, lol.

Give it to me then. I'm sure I can either make use of it or use the trade-in value to repair one of my other cameras. I'm down to only one of each.

Parkerman-what camera do you own?

Samir-I totally understand your reasoning and your point, but in the days of the "GWC" (guy with camera) entry level DSLRs are everywhere for good prices. It would be like either buying a brand new stock C6 vs buying a used ZO6 for around the same price.lol

Same as you, D700... The 24-70 doesn't leave it very often... haha.

Lol yeah the only time I take the 24-70 off is when I use my 50 Prime. Which is funny that I use my Most expensive and my Least expensive lenses most often!

True, but if someone is just trying to step to GWC, then do they really need all that? I mean a lot of people stop when they can't figure out what they can do with just shutter and aperture. It's not for everyone even though everyone's got a camera now.
