3rd Friday In Decatur

I really used to look forward to taking my old muscle car to 3rd Friday in Decatur but New Corvettes, Mustangs, Challengers and New Jeeps have Taken it over and it is hard to find a place to park..and they always advertise Classic Cars..they need to change that to just "Cars".. I don't know how many of you go but it is getting worse every month to try to get a parking spot...I quit taking my car...If I want to see new cars I can go to the Dealership...

You are right. After they got the event started for the first few years, they told me they really wanted the classics and muscle years. But they made the mistake of not getting that particular information out to all from the very beginning. One season I was told by a few that they tried turning away the newer cars and really got into it with a few of those owners. At this point, I do not know what they can do, or if they would try to change it in the future to only classics and muscle years.

I will be happy to relay this feedback to the ones in charge. As we too would enjoy this event more with only the older rides, and we would take our classics more often. But at this time, we attend without a ride to look around and visit with other classic owners.

Thank you, Marsha (noalcarcalendar)

There is NO Judging....It started to draw attention and Business to Downtown Decatur and advertise Classic Cars will be on Display and every Month in the last couple of years the newer cars have taken up most of the spots and there is no room for the the Classics...so it is not that simple...

If it's just a cruise in, not much you can do but get there earlier (and yea I know, most us have to actually work for a living). The other option is to have the "parking nazi's" enforce it, which will probably leave a bad taste in people's mouth.

Given the descriptions above, I would have to assume downtown Decatur by the river, like where the courthouse area is.

When this all started it was on Bank Street for the first year or two, then moved to 2nd Avenue. 2nd Avenue had more to offer. The restaurants. There may be other things happening on Bank Street, but believe that all the cars are on 2nd Avenue.
