Supercharged c6 z06 corvette paint correction

Supercharged c6 z06 Corvette

A couple of weeks ago, we had the absolute pleasure of working on this Supercharged c6 z06 corvette. When the car arrived the first thing I noticed was the exhaust note. The borla exhaust on this car is absolutely soundgasmic. The next thing that was noticed is that it was just slightly dirty:

Now we started with some Sonax Full Effect (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...525/500-ml-S1/) on the wheels

We then used some P21S Total Auto Wash (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...000-ml-Kit-S1/) in the Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...allon-Tank-S1/) and covered the car and allowed it to presoak for a couple of minutes:

We then used the 2 bucket method with Grit Guards (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...d-Insert-P119/) and Sheepskin wash mitts (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...ash-Mitt-P120/) to gently wash the car. Once the car was rinsed we then dried it with Microfiber Waffleweave Drying towels (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...00/36-x-24-S1/). Once the car was dry, we then clayed the car using Chemical Guys Synthetic Quick Detailer (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...P220/16-oz-S1/) as clay lube and Ultra Fine grade clay (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...P480/100-g-S2/). This is what was lifted from the paint:

Once the car was clayed, we were able to see the true condition of the paint:

We also found some hand prints that were embedded into the clearcoat in a couple of places from a dealership respray of the car:

We began using Meguiar's M105 (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...P388/32-oz-S1/) with Lake Country Orange Light Cutting Pads (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...Pad-P58/65-S1/) with the Flex 3401 (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...3401-VRG-P128/) with 6.5 inch pads and the Porter Cable 7424XP (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...l-Buffer-P331/) with 4 inch pads. Then followed up with meguiar's M205 (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...P389/32-oz-S1/) with Lake Country White Polishing Pads (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...Pad-P57/65-S1/).

After 1st stage:

After 2nd stage:

After the car was polished we followed it up with Chemical Guys EZ-Creme Glaze (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...P192/16-oz-S1/) and Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...P589/16-oz-S1/).

We were quite happy with the end results:

Thanks for viewing, I hope you enjoyed!

600hp and 605ft pounds of torque to the ground. On 5 pounds of boost. Future plans are to be around 12-14 pounds of boost and who knows on the wheel hp then. But with the suspension it hooks all 600 on drag radials.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I hope everyone gets a chance to see this car in person, the paint has so much depth in it now, it looks like BP had another oil spill!

Amazing work guys! It looks like it was pretty bad when he brought it to you guys. Were you guys able to remove the finger prints? How close was it to perfect when you guys were done with it?

This vehicle looked better than any Z06 I have seen on showroom floors in brand new condition minus a few abrasions that were made over time from normal wear and tear by the time we finished it. We put many hours of work into this car. Also on the finger print their was more than that we found on the clear of the vehicle. On the drivers side door their was a whole handprint in the clear after we gave it an inspection after we fully prepped the car. We managed to get it out and also found that their was not one but 2 fingerprints on the roof. One almost completely came out but the other has remnants of its outline still slightly present. When he brings it back im planning on rounding some other supplies up to get rid of what is left of them. What we did get out was not from wetsanding but from polishing techniques with some more abrasive compounds which we took steps to get the clear back to the glass feeling that is should have. We like to try and help cars in the long run by removing as little of the clear as possible to help out with the longevity of the paint on the car while along with getting the paint as close to perfection as possible

Also note that we are going to be adding a new sealant to our arsenal of products soon that will put all of the others to shame in not only looks but durability and life applied to your vehicle for up to a solid year Some of you detailing buffs may know what we are talking about :P
