Samir, speak to me...

Hey man, good to meet you the other night. I just wondered if you got any good videos up from Friday night?

I got a couple, but all you can see is headlights and blurry tail lights?

Any advice on how to get my camera to focus on tail lights going away from me? It has a "FOCUS" button, but I don't know what to do after I press it.

Thanks man!

Shooting video (or even pictures) on moving objects has always been a challenge because the focus changes throughout the shot or range of shots.

For dark scenes or night shots, you will either have to swtich to manual mode to get enough light entering the camera or you will need some sort of feature equivalent to night vision.

The focus button you have is probably for a momentary af focus when it is in manual mode. To focus on tail lights moving away, I'd set the focus manually and just leave it, maybe adjusting it manually if you can.

Thanks for the tips. I had the "Super NightShot" on, and when I was close to peole and cars, I could see them well, but when all I could see was tail lights, they just become big fuzzy circles.

Oh well, I still had a blast.

Nice to meet a few more people!

Most of the nightvision systems work off an infrared emitter. But the limit of most emitters is only a few feet, and maybe a hundred at the max, so it will most definitely be difficult once the object is so far away.

I thought as much, about the nightshot.

Still got a good shot of piper and chikin launching.

Any advice on how to get the vids I did get up on the net? I have never done a video, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The hard part about video is usually conversion (if necessary) and then hosting them. I'd be glad to host them for you and give you credit for them. They'll be side-by-side with mine.

Conversion, on the other hand, isn't my specialty. I don't have to worry about it because my camera is literally straight digital from the camera to the card to my server. I only have to choose which ones to put up.

Being that your camera is straight to DVD, you should be able to see the .vob files if you put the DVD in a computer with at DVD-ROM. You can then just upload those to my server. They might be big, but they're no worse than mine at full res.
