HCS Site Photographers Wanted
Since there's a few die-hard HCS members looking around here, I thought I'd post up this announcement.
Huntsville Car Scene.com is looking for site photographers. Photographers will be tasked with covering events, but this is really an opportunity to make photography a serious hobby or even a career. There is pay involved. Now, before you get too excited about the pay, let me explain. Huntsville Car Scene is the place for photos of events in the entire scene. Everybody knew this a few years ago, and it won't take long for everyone to know it again. So we have a large base of people that look at photos and purchase prints or other photo gifts. In the past, all of the profits from purchases were mine because I took the photos. Well, if you're a HCS site photographer, the photos are yours and you get the profits. All you have to do is cover a minimum of 4 events a month shooting HCS style photos. Sound good? Interested? If so, then post up some examples of your work, or some of the best pics you've taken. They don't have to be car pics, but that's the preferred genre. Once I see your pics, I'll give you a call to discuss it further. I look forward to talking to you.

Thanks. I'm very new as well. I bought a cheaper DSLR and kept practicing with the settings. I'm still very much a newbie. I love to take some classes and really learn about it more.

tell me about it! I have looked around here for classes and all of them are basically just telling you how to take pictures of this and that. Not really what you need to know about your apeteure(?) and all the other features that coinside with a really nice picture. I have a D60 right now, so hopefully that will carry me until i learn alot more.

The photography classes taught at UAH by a guy named Jose are awesome. My ex has taken just about all of those classes and they're really helpful. He really knows his stuff.
A D60 should be just fine, I'd think, for what we're doing. You don't have to have a $1000+ camera to take awesome pics.

Ha. I don't really need a pass to go to the strip since it's 3 mins away. I actually talked with the previous owner about providing event coverage for them. Then he sold it so back to square one....

Justin, I got the inside on that, I for one KNOW you can do so, don't know if you would get paid off the bat, but it would be fun.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_Camera.html This is the camera that took at awesome shot of my Corvette with the bridge. Out of all my cameras, this one has the sharpest lens. The lens alone is worth more than the whole camera. This camera is excellent for most normal daylight appliacations. It's infinitely continuous 2fps shooting is great for capturing action, and with the 432mm zoom and 2.8 aperture, you can still be sharp and in focus doing it. The shot of the red dragster and of the Gainsco car were shot like this. I was in the stands at the dragstrip here shooting the dragster and was behind the wall at Barber for the Gainsco car. Plus, with SD cards cheap and the 2gb SD/USB combo card available now, you can shoot almost a 1000 highest res pictures on one card and then transfer them to a computer without a card reader. The only drawbacks to this camera is noise in ISOs starting as low as 200. I personally don't like the extending lens, but it's a tradeoff. Your hand will cramp from shooting if you do it for a few hours continuously, but this will be for almost any camera besides a full-size SLR.
