So I can understand not giving trophies to the same cars every month. I think what would be cool would be to have a "winners row" or something where all the winners from the month before could park and be recognized and not in competition with everyone else (maybe that area where we were parked right in front of the door.) I know all 10 cars from the previous month would not be there but a lot would....especially knowing they would be recognized. Then maybe you could let those owners be guest judges and vote on the 10 cars for that month or pick best of show or something. You could even ask those people to RSVP email the week before to plan the parking. That would be a lot better IMO then just overlooking them the next month because they won previously.

Also have you ever thought of doing a participants pick or people's choice style thing to choose the top 10? It would be less work for you, people would have less reason to bitch (at you) and it should be a lot fairer to everybody. Maybe give everybody that registers a voting slip and let them pick their five favorites and then tally up the votes at the end. Sure you have buddies voting for buddies but thats just to be expected...usually you still get fair results that way.

i LOVE the winners row idea cause its been talked about a lot of how do you overlook the best cars... if they are the best car they should win... right? but then again, if the best cars after two months knwo they wont win... you just lost 22 cars the 3rd month... but you lose other cars too if the same 11 or 22 or whatever cars win...

maybe talk to A&W about giving the top 10 and the best of show a free shake at the next show if they come out and park in "winners row" and off that month but the next month they are judged again with no biasedness that they won previously

so that might bring the cars back out a few times (maybe not paying but encourage them to come back again) and eventually they will miss a month or two or more

the voting thing is a load of shhhhh... it killed the hardees show and hurt the 302 show... ppl dont like being voted for... if i go out to a show and its just me and my fiance and i dont bring a load of friends... i have no chance... judging is just better and if ppl build a really nice show car... they will get what they deserve

I am not a memeber of any clubs, don't go to shows with any friends (except my wife) and I always do well at voted on shows. I took best "85 and up" at Ardmore last year and didn't know a single person there, I took "People's Choice" in Nashville at the Autofest and don't know anybody there. But your right it can be very skewed I guess, but no more so than 3 people trying to pick "Top 10" out of 50 cars of totally different styles and so on. If they try to get a good mix of cars to be "fair" are those 10 cars really the top 10 cars there??? Lets face it the cars at this type show are not "judged", they are "picked" based on whatever...and I am just saying its probably better if 50 people pick the cars instead of 3. Its not a big deal, just something to think about...there is no perfect answer and you can not make everybody happy.

(And in case anybody thinks I am complaining about the judging or something, I am not at all...I got a Top 10 and wouldn't even if I hadn't. I am very happy with Jaymack's shows and think they are very well put on and very fairly judged as far as I am concerened.)

oh at bigger shows like that im with you... just local shows weve seen it scewed badly... its hard to do either way cause its hard to compare a classic to an import, a bike to a muscle car, a drag racing truck to a mini truck at shows like this... its hard to vote for cars the same way

302 was closest in doing this splitting up the years but yeah a top 10 show isnt really a show to brag about if you win either way but it sure is nice!

I really dont have a dog in this fight because I havent been to one of Jays shows yet. But what bugs me especially at the local show is how do you automatically say that a highly modified truck/car/suv/etc should beat a stock or close to stock vehicle. What is it that decides what a show car is? Is it how much you have done? How much you have spent? or How clean and tastelful its done? That is one of the main reasons I dont go to as many shows as some of you. I have spent alot of blood sweat and tears on my truck not to mention a fairly big some of moeny to make my truck what it is. But I dont have the custom paint job and the slammed suspension and bone rattling stereo system and the massive rims. I spend days getting ready for a show and you can eat off my truck top to bottom and get beat by a bug covered, oil leaking, trashed out interior truck with a lowered suspension and custom paint......How is that fair to me.

Some cruise-ins charge too, so it's best to check the event listing as I try to have registration financial information as the first item in the listing.

Just watch for the words "Registration is free" in a listing. It does happen.

A lot of people come to various events to check out the cars and just drive theirs. Nothing wrong with it.

Cruel1...I have seen your truck and I like the way you have made the subtle but noticable changes to it. The problem with vehicles like yours, is that in a judges eyes, he may not be able to see these changes. So without the owner near by to show and point out these changes, they may go unnoticed. Like I said before I like your truck and rather enjoy seeing it at the local shows. Its more my taste and style, but judging isn't about taste and style, other than me wishing it was a little closer to mother earth.lol Nonetheless to the naked eye, it looks like a really really really clean semi-stock truck. As for the other that you mentioned being not as up to par and beating you, that I can't speak on cause I don't know the truck. Having yours next to one that is visibly more modified and with much more drastic modifications may be the deciding factor on why you had been beat out at that particular show. Nonetheless it shouldn't deter you from coming out and enjoying the love of the car shows with us! Like I said I enjoy seeing your truck at shows and I am sure I am not the only one. I have some photos of your truck at one or two of the shows around here and the colors make for great photo ops!lol

Thanks for the compliment, Munchie. I really love to go to shows. I have never been one to go to show to win but I expect to be judged fairly also. I dont mind getting beat by a high modified truck or even a show room stock truck as long as everyone is judged fairly. For instance......the white F150 (I think her name is Jennifer but not sure) that was in ACC/TC, I expect to get beat by that truck at a show, but you take a truck that ran through the car wash right before the show to knock the big chunks of mud off I expect to beat no matter how modded it is. I dont think just because you have alot of mods you should win if its not atleast clean. Maybe my 2 mods I am working on will help get notcied.

clean is a big part of a lot of shows... you can usually ask what the judges are looking for and they will tell you. I helped with toys for tots car show and we looked a lot at cleanliness... it was almost half the points. but most cars that were modded out were clean. Now if its modded out and not clean, it shows you dont care to us so we usually scored you low enough not to get anything. cause if you dont care enough to clean your car for the show, we dont care enough to give you anything. this really didnt happen at toys for tots though

Hey guys. What a great show. Great music, cars and people. I allways try and make the A&W show because of this.
I was one of the ones that didn't register. I don't come for the trophys but just to hang out. I would rather someone else win an award that would appreciate it more than I do (not that I have a winning car). I also thought that this was a cruise in. But I will register next time and just tell them not to judge my car so that there will not be any confusion.
I would aso like to apologize to A&W for bringing my own cooler. After I thought about it I can see were that is not cool. I did get something to eat there.
People need to understand that this is not a big show and is not judged as one. I like that different cars win every month.
So keep up the good work guys and I will see you next month.

In a perfect world, yes. Naturally if one was judged as one of the best vehicles in attendance, then it should technically win at that specific show every time that show is held, unless something "upstages" it.

Unfortunately I wouldn't have much of a show if the same 11 vehicles that won last month showed up the next month and they won the awards again.

So with that said, due to the desire to be fair to all the participants, the persons that won awards at the last show are unlikely to be awarded at the next months show (back to back A&W shows for example.)

That's not said to discourage the award winners to not attend the show still because there is the possibility that they can win if there is no other competition, but moreso than that, they could support the show and venue so that it can continue and there would be a good quality automotive event that can stay active in this town where so many of the events from the past have fallen to the wayside.

I like the suggestion 97ramsst made about a "winner's row" for previous winners...
