A steamy hot, but slightly milder than normal day greeted the thousands of participants and spectators for the largest event of the year. Myself and Austin from Red Baron Photography teamed up to take pictures of all 1100+ cars at the event. And while we took great care to make sure we took a picture of each car there, either we missed some, or there were less cars there as we only ended up with 900+ photos.

Local organizations were out in full force with the North Alabama Volkswagon Club, Rocket City Mustang Club, Rocket City Camaros, and Vets with Vettes all having a good showing by club members.

My friends the world famous Alabama Blues Brothers brought the live entertainment in a major way with great music and a visual performance that only they can. And my friends from Devine Productions were running the professional sound. It was good to see them both a car show. Be sure to check out the video of their rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama".

The rain held off until even the last car had left the park. Clouds dampened the blaring sun throughout the day making the day tolerable, but Austin was pretty done by award time, and I had to recover about an hour at the show grounds before I could head home. And on my way home, I saw a complete rainbow, including the end of the rainbow. I tried to get a shot of the end since it was in plain site. And I can tell you there was no pot of gold.

I want to thank Misty from CBI Performance for the water and refreshments that kept us going. Be sure to support CBI and visit or call them for any of your hotrod or streetrod needs. See everyone next year!

Note the date this year. August 14th, the 2nd Saturday in August. I believe in previous years it was on a different weekend. And glad they changed so that we can now attend an out-of-state event and still be able to attend Ardmore as well. Marsha

Very large show too. Between this and the one at Point Mallard, these are the toughest ones to attempt to cover. Last year there were about 800-900 cars.

It's well worth the short drive. And if you want to help me put the HCS slips in the cars that I've already photographed, I'll spot you some HCS stickers/vinyl clings for free. And this offer applies to anyone that wants to help.

I'll be coming to this one and bringing some other Camaro owners from N.Georgia and west Alabama along with me. Samir, I'll help pass out the HCS slips at any show that I attend.

Thank you for the help! Remind me to hook you up with some slips and some stickers. I started to get heat exhaustion at the Point Mallard show, so I had to leave before we had a chance to meet up again.

Thank you! You guys can take shifts. I've found that most run out of steam and can't hang with me the whole day. Of course, I usually go home and crash for a few hours after a big event like this, so it takes its toll on me too.

So what time do I need to get to this show? If there is going to be 1200 cars it seems like it'd be a good idea to get there before 10 I'm guessing????? Also is there much shade???

I'd call them and see how early the registration for this event opens. I imagine it will open at least 6am, as that's the norm for events this large. As far as shade, it is 50-50. If you get jammed in between some of the trees, you will have shade, but there are some good-sized open patches of grass as well.

I'm prepping cameras today for this event. It will be the largest undertaking of the year for me, so any help will be appreciated and rewarded. Outlaw77lt and cheesepuff are already on the list, but with the heat, I don't think two people will make it. We'll probably do shifts to keep you guys okay. So the more people, the shorter and more tolerable the shifts.

Last year I was given 630AM, and some of the
organizers were just showing up when I got there
at that time. However, some vendors had obviously
either gotten there earlier or been there overnight,
based on the progress of their set-up. Very few cars
were on hand at that hour, though. Lots of shade, I
would imagine it's first come, first claimed in most cases.
