Gadsden First Friday Cruise-In

Downtown Gadsden is transformed as hundreds of cars and bikes fill the downtown streets. And with blocks of merchants, there's tons to do.

There's no registration, no door prizes or other incentives. But get there early to get the best spots. The streets are blocked off at around 3:30-4pm and cars are already there waiting.

From the web site:
- Please park in empty existing parking spaces first and then in the center lanes only (see diagram below).
- No parking in the outside lanes. Outside lanes are for emergency vehicles only.
- No parking in areas or parking spaces that contain traffic cones.
- Broad Street closes at 4:30 pm on First Friday and the festivities officially begin at 6:00 pm. Please plan to park on Broad Street between 4:30 and 6:00 pm.
- As First Friday grows during the warmer months and shrinks during the colder months, there will be changes in parking arrangements. Please be flexible and understanding of any changes.

A word of caution though as the spectators there are the general public--stay near your car or bike as I've seen more touching and the like than I've ever seen at any event, especially from unsupervised or undersupervised kids.

Still going on! and with bonus fun for Christmas:

From an email:
"Join us at 5:30pm for the inaugural "North Pole Stroll." A parade of Santa's and Mrs. Clauses will make their way from the Pitman Theatre down Broad Street to help with the 6pm tree lighting at City Hall."

I barely remember the name Ed Sullivan, lol. You'll have to post a link to the shoe bit so us younguns can see it.

I am old enough. As a child my parents even took us to the Whitesburg drive inn regularly . I know who Ed Sullivan is by mostly reruns. But I was alive during some of his rein. I was still dirtying my diapers during his shows. Heck, I am so old I might get to look forward to doing that again soon. Ha

I haven't, but I did watch a lot of the Elvis movies back when TNT/TBS would play them. They were the teen movie of the times and were so wrong at times, even by today's standards.

I never really got what was so fab about the fab 4. But I did like the band Oasis.

Wish I was free this weekend. Have a wedding in B'ham with stuff on Friday and Saturday. I'm sure this will be large as usual. Samir keep us posted

we were gonna go, but unfortunately the wifey ot bad news with her exam she submitted in, so can't do anything for the next 2 weeks, but this will give me time to get work done on her car....

hope everyone has a great time too and the weather holds out

It's all good guys. This is why I created Huntsville Car Scene. I'll have cameras locked and loaded to take thousands of pics of what you missed. And then I'll try to get them online asap so you can check it out.

My brother's going to be in town Sunday so hopefully I can squeeze some family time in with the great opportunity to catch up.
