Winter Projects Thread

So what's everyone working on this winter?

Personally I'm going to spending a lot of time trying to finish our 70 Land Cruiser. I'd also like to finally paint my truck, I've made decent progress over the past week.

I'm also planning to do a cam in the vette as well as electric cutouts and maybe a few other things....... I've also go a feeling I'll be doing a cluch as well........but one can hope mine will hold up.

A plus would be to get my CVCC running but that's going to be a strech.

Altima 1:

Altima 2:

Altima 3:
- sue c&k roofing for the damage they did over a year ago, and post the story here so the search engine spiders will pick up the story and show how they're not honest people at all.
- find parts to repair body damage
- inspect oil, atf, and spark plugs
- check stall using fsm procedure

Galant:
- none scheduled

Father's s500:
- contact MB USA and get them to cover the repair of the air-ride system and tires I bought since the car wasn't properly CPOd and the dealerships didn't find the problem.

e55:
- none scheduled
- move to new storage place

Corvette:
- none scheduled
- move to new storage place

Porsche:
- mount new tires
- change oil
- flush brake fluid with castrol srf
- inspect rear main seal and contact porsche usa for warranty work never completed

Minivan:

And this is only if I can finish the HCS work I want to complete.

Samir, just get the stuff for the Accord and Porsche, then throw a " Wrench " party. Grill some burgers and you'll have plenty of help show up to service your rides. I'd be glad to come over and help you get them back up to par.......You do have a garage we can heat up don't you?

Well I'm hoping to throw a "wrenching party" once I get my garage wired. I need to find a good licensed electrician that would give cost breaks for sweat equity. I could do ANYTHING that needed to be done except hook up the juice...

Well I just finished one of my winter projects, which was Jaymacks FC V8 RX7. The car was an SE car and he had a donor Turbo II car. So I changed out the entire IRS and all suspension componants for the rear, changed out front suspension and hub assemblies to the T2 5 lug setup, made gauge panels from sheet metal for the interior gauges, disassembled all usable parts from T2 car, and started to wire up the engine and other components when he desides now that he is possibly going to sell it.lol

For my personal projects though:
MYSIXFO-install passenger Floor pan, wire up air managment, install air setup, get the motor overhauled and tuned for daily drivability, and finish up some of the body work.
Buggy-pull motor and replace rings, buy new winch cause old one crapped out on me and raise hell!
D50-secret plans for it that may take a lot longer than expected, but when completed will be sexy and definatly different!

I'm slowly replacing the lights in/on my car with LED's.
I will also be putting a new alarm/keyless/remote start system on my car.

Non car projects include finish furnishing my apartment.

It's not schedule at the moment. And your tail lights are about the same as mine, so I don't know why I'd want to see them.

But seriously, I need much more seat time to get comfortable with that car before I'll be able to drive it to it's potential. It ran 6.8s in the 1/8th on nitrous and BFGs and 7.4s without spray with ITSFAST driving it (it was his car before mine). I've got to learn rwd, the shift pattern of the transmission, the handling of the car and a host of other things before I'm comfortable with it enough to give you a good run. I don't think you'd be happy with a win that wasn't earned.

I've got most everything I need. I've had it for over a year in the case of the Porsche tires. It's a matter of scheduling time right now. I have an insulated garage where the cars are stored, but there's not enough room in there to work on them right now. I still have to look up some of the procedures and specs like the torque spec for the Porsche wheels.

I'd talk to some of the general contractors that do home improvement in the area and see who they use. They would have the experience with the smaller companies that still do quality work.

Well this year I guess I'll work on the 67 Fairlane. I have a new carpet coming along with a few small interior parts. I have a new steering box which I'll install before spring. The old one has a spot binding up. I guess for the first year since I've had it the old C cab will just sit in the garage and rest. Looks like this winter I'm just going to be a bum and do very little for once. I'm still going to Decatur to work on the 61 T bird but it's getting to just the little things that need to be looked after. As we've driven it we find a thing here and there that needs attension but nothing serious.

Know any sources for 60 Galaxie/Fairlane parts?

Actually I'm an electrician with 12 years exp. I could show you what to do and you can do all the work yourself. Did you pull a permit on the garage?

Sure do infact there are several. The company I like dealing with because of there service and care that your getting the right parts is (Mac's Antique Auto Parts) which you can fine on line. They will send you a great catalog free on request for any particular Ford. The prices arn't always the cheepest but knowing you'll get it and it fits is worth it to me. Check them out.

I have Mac's catalog but for some reason they don't list very many parts for a 1960 Galaxie (compared to other years).

No, I was under the impression you had to be a licenced electrician to get a permit.

You can probably do all the work yourself and then have an certified electrician 'sign off' on the work by reviewing it. It's been years since I've dealt with construction management, so I'll have to check if this can still be done. This may only apply if a permit is already in place.

My big thing is what I am in the middle of as I type this.

Installing a shaker hood on my yellow car. I've cut the hole and am starting the test fitting this afternoon. I have a heated shop if anybody wants to hang out let me know.

Also replacing the horn, and installing some sun visors that need vinyl sprayed.
