my camera isnt workin right.. got a rebel xsi and my small lense will not auto focus.. the large lense focus' fine.. will try to take some pix this weekend.

Try cleaning the metal terminals on the 18-55 lens. Sometimes if they are dirty they won't pick up the points on the lens. If your lucky that's all it is, however the gears or motor in the lens could have gone out in there. In that case I would just buy another one. I think the 18-55 canon kit lens is only about 100 bucks. Craigslist has a bunch of canon stuff for sale on there...mostly cause people realize that Canon<Nikon!;-) Just kidding, but there really is a bunch of canon stuff on CL.

Depending on which 18-55 you want (II, IS, or original), you can find it as cheap as $50 in like-new condition. fredmiranda.com and keh.com are also great places to look for used equipment. Hopefully the contact cleaning will do it.
