to the owner of the Silver Viper

Had a call out Friday night at California/Gov. Had been out working since 9 PM. About midnight we all hear this horrible sound coming up Gov drive. So we all stopped working to see what POS this was coming up the road at midnight. Low and behold it was a silver viper. A couple of other guys made the comment that they have heard 2 stroke chainsaws sound better. Just thought you should know, your crap is loud and obnoxious and we laughed at you when you went by.

Vipers are known to a have a 'different' sound due to the v10. I remember seeing one at the dragstrip one time. Even though it was running fast times and couldn't get traction, it had a sound that didn't sound like something fast.

One thing I've always observed is that a cheap exhaust system generally sounds cheap. That may have been what you heard.

From Edmunds and Car & Driver:

Still there was room for criticisms in the Viper and the most common one concerned its sound. "Lighting off 10 799cc cylinders will always arouse the spirit," Car and Driver reported. "The sound that follows, unfortunately, doesn't. Good mechanical business and a hungry-mouth intake roar comes from the front, but the separate five-cylinder, side-outlet exhaust plumbing gave the engineers fits. They couldn't tune in a melodious note and meet the federal 80-decibel noise limit. So the Viper sounds oddly like a UPS truck up to 3,000 rpm, then it just roars like God's own Dustbuster."

the early ones sound not so good. you are actually hearing two five cylinders running together. the later cars have a crossover pipe that helps TREMENDOUSLY, but they still sound funny. the V10 trucks are the same way, sound funny, then people run true duals on them and they sound like straight piped V6 with a nasty ring. the V10 naturally has an unbalanced sound because of the firing frequency/

yeah -It was way loud and horrible sounding. Dude if my car sounded like that I would put some mufflers on it so you would never hear it. I don't care if its a viper or a sunbird. Crap is crap.

That's the Hennessey 650R one. It's actually a pretty awesome and powerful car.

Didn't say it wasn't fast. Just that it sounded like crapola. I just dont understand these people that think a certain badge on a car makes it ok to have loud pipes. I guess some people think that just because it is what it is makes it ok to sound like a misfiring pile of poo. Just my.02. If it had a nice low tone and sounded like it had some power then it would have been fine. But loud pinging pipes only makes people laugh at you when you drive by at 5000 rpm in 2nd gear.

this looks like the right one

He probably doesn't really care considering his car will destroy almost anybody who wants to play with him on the street.

I'll race anything...........if he can't drive I don't care how fast it is. 650 hp on street tires = fail. Trust me 505 is hard enough to put down as you've seen.

I'm with Cody on this one. Power is nothing unless you can get it down. My vette is great from a 70 kick, but a 40 kick scares me to death.

He doesn't. He had a Aston Martin Vanquish before. He does enjoy driving, but he's not a drag racer or a street racer.

Maybe not the CGT around here, but he does have one in Miami that has made the trip up here.
