What does it say? A few weeks back, I took care of an exploit before it ever went live. I haven't seen anything else since then.

Samir,
I didn't get it this morning logging in, I should have paid more attention, next time I will log the virus name. If I knew how to look at my Norton "history" intelligently maybe I could help more.
Thanks,
Freddy

Google and a lot of the search engines now tell you if a site is having issues. I'm running some scans to see if I can find anything.

was wondering if it was just me. my netbook freaked out when i logged in yesterday. i got a pop up " harddrive failure detected, reboot suggested" . so i rebooted, and lost ALL my programs (start>all programs=empty!)
had to download malware software, and restore my comp. i got everything back, but it took a little while.

computer viruses

There is more then usuall virus activity for a few weeks now. I have lost everything twice in April and had to set up the computer from scrach both times. Let me tell you that's getting old. I switched protection programs and so far it's letting me delete them. Just like Flatheadfreddy almost every day I'm getting virus notices which I've been taking care of right away. I guess it must be like a full moon period for the computer gurus.

You know, I don't run any of the spyware/malware crap. Most of them cause more problems than they solve. I simply use system restore built into XP, set the browsers not to download anything, and make sure I don't use IE--that's paramount. There's more holes and exploits for IE than anything.

Also, I don't stay on the 'cutting edge' of browsers. There's no need to auto-update every time something new is out. Turn that crap off. If something doesn't work, then you may need to update, but do so manually. When your computer goes bonkers, yank the plug--don't turn it off, don't shut it down, don't click anything. Then disconnect the Internet connection (turn off your wireless router if it's wireless), turn it on and run system restore to a date you know was working fine. Once you're back up and running, plug everything back in and you should be alright. I've used this method for years and I've still got computers from the mid 2000s that work fine. In fact, I don't even have anything newer than the mid-2000s even though I need faster stuff.

A post was made on hsvracing.com on this same subject. This information is false. There is no virus from Huntsville Car Scene. I have requested to have the thread title changed.

The following sites, which try to detect issues on sites, say HCS is clean:
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/huntsvillecarscene.com
http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/d...lecarscene.com
http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/d...lecarscene.com
http://safeweb.norton.com/report/sho...lecarscene.com
http://www.avgthreatlabs.com/siterep...ene.com&check=
http://www.urlvoid.com/

If someone finds something different detecting something, please let me know. I work too hard to let some malware mess up all my work.

Wouldn't you know it that shortly after I post this, the malware get smart. You can't always system restore out of an infection anymore.

I have two systems that are now sitting waiting for me to find time to restore them using the factory CDs.

Have you been able to get it to do it again? If so, let me know exactly what you have to do, and I can start diagnosing what's going on.

i haven't been able to duplicate it yet but im still messing around with it...never had a problem with norton... been using it for 8-10 years and never had an intrusion problem...widely used by several name companies such as chrysler corp, siemens electronics and continental corp to name a few...

From another user that I'm working with, it seems to only alert him on the homepage. Let me know if you can confirm this. If so, then I'll start shutting off parts of the homepage until it's narrowed down.

I got a virus on my computer after logging in on my computer about twenty mins ago. I've been flagged a few times for the past week but didn't think it was the site till today.
