Stop Cancer Car Show
so i have had this idea for awhile and need some help pulling it together. I really want to get a car show together that almost all proceeds go to different cancer research places. my idea is we have a list of the different cancers we are bringing awareness to (Breast cancer, prostate, lung, liver, childhood, ovarian) you get the idea. along with cancer in general. when the participants register they mark which group or groups they want their proceeds to go to support. and we have different representivites from the different cancers come an have a booth to talk about it and bring awareness to each one. have this a fun and family friendly show, but also raise money for a good cause. my great aunt is a breast cancer survivor and they are watching my mother. prostate cancer runs in my husbands family. my dads father died of lung and liver. and i have a girl i worked with in Birmingham whos son is a survivor of a childhood cancer.
what do yall think? i have never done a car show and this is just an idea i have had that i want to toss out there.

Covering such a large area of cancers like that is a great idea but tough to pull off. You'd need lots of planning and help from the heads of the scene. Also support from the city and a great venue. It might be easier to start smaller and grow it up. Connections are key. Our toys for tots show was a success due to mny of these key factors. But it had one general goal. Where this has many and sadly the car scene here is huge but highly unorganized. A cruise in style might be better. Door prizes etc or small trophies. You don't want profits ate up by those.

Century BMW used to have a 'Drive For the Cure' where BMW paid per mile to cancer research for the number of miles driven that day. Century made a big media event out of it every year until BMW dropped the program.
My grand aunt in London died from brain cancer, so this disease has hit close to home. But I'm wary about these large organizations--where does the money really go? Heads of non-profits are getting paid huge salaries now and these fund raising drives have a really business feel to them. I'd rather pick someone in our community that needs help with the bills from their fight with cancer and help them with the proceeds.

Sounds like a plan.
![]() There's also other ways to give the causes funds. Many of the charity shows that are put on each year don't yet have a designated charity. Letting them know which one you want the proceeds to go to now can be an easy way to get the support.
