As Willie and I drove throught Providence looking for a line of Nissans, we didn't see anything. I didn't know what to expect for this first time meet, and didn't expect more than a handful of people. As we drove through the complex, I saw it--the line of Nissans. Even thought I was riding along in a limited production exotic, in that moment I was more happy to see that line of cars.

This monthly meet has been over a decade in the making. My first car was a 1993 Nissan Altima SE. My second was a 1995 Altima SE. This was the car that saw my evolution from a mere mortal to an enthusiast.

My Altima at my private 'test track' where I did my tuning

The engine bay

And now I even have a third Nissan Altima SE that my brother gave me. Can you tell I love the brand?

My brother's old car (now mine) off Muholland in Los Angeles, California

Almost as soon as Willie and I parked the Rossion after driving through Providence looking for parking, we were mobbed by a crowd of enthusiasts. Jen from TopEnd.tv didn't know anyone, so she was waiting for me. But what surprised me was walking away for 2 minutes to take pictures of a sweet GT2 at Grill 29, and then coming back to the car with Sarah (koreangrits) and her friend Kasi already in it. I looked at Willie and said, 'man you work fast'. He shrugged his shoulders and laughed.

Our new friend Kasi in the Rossion

The Porsche GT2. Notice the yellow calipers indicating the carbon-ceramic brakes.

Inside, something awaited me that I didn't expect--an entire table full of people for this first ever monthly Nissan meet. As long as I can remember, there has never been an organized Nissan meet in Huntsville, and it finally happened. I was so happy, and I think people saw it in my face.

The conversations were all over the place from one end of the table to the other, but really great. I was happy to see everyone enjoying the company of fellow enthusiasts.

As Quincy started to leave, I realized I never got any pictures of the line of cars outside. So I went out with him and his family and grabbed a few shots before he left. I continued to shoot the cars while everyone was inside with the intention of returning inside. Well, after what felt like 10 minutes, everyone was outside, lol.

And then the big guns were pulled out. Tony (Parkerman) pulled out some heavy duty Nikon equipment while Jerome (1FLYG) pulled out some Canon equipment, and Daniel (secondhandloser) pulled out an entire backpack. And thus the Nissan paparazzi was born, lol

The Nissan Paparazzi

As Willie gave rides in the Rossion, we all continued to take photos of the cars from different angles. It was a fun time to talk about the cars and get creative behind the camera:

Daniel working on the perfect shot of his 370

Jen from TopEnd.tv even hammed it up for the camera, styling in her matching shirt. It was really good to hang out with her. She's a motorcycle girl, but has an Infiniti too.

'Peace out H-ville'

And we had all sort of friends that stopped in or came by, like Israel from TruFacts Racing and his wife with their Supra.

As people left, I started shooting some video of all the different exhaust notes. There's also a clip of the Rossion so you can hear that too.

After Willie and I left Providence, we went by Staples. And while it was a dead night, people still found the Rossion interesting.

And when it was finally time to call it a night, there were some cool bikes parked at the hotel.

A great night of fun with a lot of great people. I can't wait for the next one. And I can't wait to bring one of my Altimas. See everyone next time!

No, there's a lot of great feedback so far for the third Friday. Im thinking maybe a bonus Monday meet on a different week. Most ppl work through the week and are off on weekends. Personally my work will start picking up quickly in September plus school will crank up so Mondays will be much harder. Ill bring it up to the Nissan peeps next Friday and see what interest there is for it. See how this meet even goes before we decide anything. After I get feedback from the Nissan owners I'll move forward in the next few ideas for meta and events.

I just think it shouldn't be about what one person decides. Right now it seems like you guys have it set in stone that it has to be on a Friday. I'm sure everyone wants to be apart of it, therefore we have to be willing to try and meet everyone's accommodation's. I know we can't make everyone happy, but doing it other days of the week isn't going to kill anyone.

Yeah most people do work Mondays but they also get off around 5 or 6. So it could be a 7:00 meet. And yeah we all work the next day but it's not like we are getting smashed and staying out until 3 in the morning.

I'm just thinking that some of you need to start being a little more open to suggestion so that other's may be able to participate in our activities.

^There's the link to the discussion before anything was nailed down. I didn't grab anyone and hold a gun to their head and say "It's Friday at Mellow Mushroom or else!!!" That is what was decided by the group at the time.

I don't think it's right for a group to decide something and one person come in and make a fuss over something they had no part in. I said it could be discussed and see what's up and even have that as an extra meet/hangout or whatever label you want to put on it.

Also I was asked my a few of these guys to spearhead these events and to take control with it. So, that's what I did.

I only though chicks made a big deal out of nothing... sheesh

Now if everyone wants to start doing it on Monday that's fine. I'll wait to hear a place and times and see if I can make it and won't make a big fuss if I can't...

Well nothing says there has to be "one" night to hangout. Spearhead it bro. Name a place and time and we'll all try to make it! I'm down for more then one hangout. If someone can't make one, maybe they can make the other.

I can create the facebook event next time if you don't like the pressure.

We'll figure it out month by month. Nothing has to be set in stone.

The only reason I make it a reoccuring event like that is word will spread easy that way. If you have a meet/hangout whatever (not putting a label on it) consistently on the same night (usually at the same place) then ppl catch on and more come out and it grows. Our core Nissan guys here pass on to other Nissan owners "hey we meet here at this time every month.." it's easier for ppl to get there then if it changes every month.

Like I said, if everyone wants to do Monday or Friday or both or a thousand meets a month, that fine. I'm keeping to this one and if it fails after a while, then less I have to worry about lol

I'm not trying to make a fuss just stating that some people can't make it on Fridays. I'm not the only one. And as far as me, I travel with my job 8 months out of the year, Wednesday thru Sunday, every week. So yeah i'd like to be able to attend certain functions and outings as much as anyone would!

You make your job sound so terrible, lol. But I've been there (the 3am part, not smashed), and it takes a real toll on your schedule.

Easy does it. No need for this level of emotion. We're all wanting the same thing.

This is very, very true. This is why a fixed time/date is a good idea and why most of the other organizations do it this way. The s2k guys decide a different date and place each time and it's hard to find them if you're new. Not to mention it skips months too when nothing is decided. The Subaru guys keep it the same date, but a different place. That seems to work as it gives everyone a voice and creates communication in the group.

What I was suggesting was something in addition to the monthly dinner, which would be a monthly lunch. You could keep this on a Monday or Tuesday and it would give an opportunity for those that had a Friday night engagement to still come to a meet, even if it is just for 30 minutes to an hour.

Yup, it's a proven fix in the car world. Usually the car guys know where the next meet is and can inform others where it's at. All others need to remember is the reoccuring date, call up their friend who is a constant at going to these things and be like "what's up dude? It's about to be the third Friday, where is the Nissan hangout this time. I'm going to make this one."

Believe me, around here... there cannot be to many import or Nissan events. Way to many classic and muscle car stuff lol. We are a growing breed and need to expand and take over anyway lol
