TruFacts Racing Prototype Shift Knob

This is the first prototype design of the TFR shift knob. I wanted to get some opinions on the design and size to gauge interest before we make more and begin selling them.

The shift knob is made of 416 stainless steel, it is a heavier and higher grade metal than most manufacturer's use. What this means is that is it naturally weighted and does NOT require extra weight and it is much more durable. The TFR logo is laser etched/engraved so it will not wear off over time of your hand rubbing against it or the sun beating down on it.

This is how it fits into my hand:

Laser etched/engraved logo:

The shift knob is 8.5 cm tall:

and 4 cm wide:

Sorry for the cell phone pics, I was kind of doing this in a rush haha.

As it sits with the shift knob pictured above they will cost about $65-70 a piece. The cost is mainly due to the cost of materials.

Any opinions, suggestions, comments are welcome. We do have some other designs in the works, we are also thinking of getting some with some rubber for extra grip, along with some leather wrapped knobs.

Thanks for looking, and please comment.

Can't see the pic here at work, but I saw it in your hand the other day. I would be interested if you guys could get a shorter one that wouldn't interfere with my shift lock.

I've had this prototype in my hand and it's a really solid piece, not like billet Aluminum but really naturally weighted.

If you like the design, I can have it scaled down some.

Here is my question, can you make one that fits a Cobalt SS? That is one thing Cobalts have against them, to actually get the shift knob off is a pain. Even if you get it off we still have a reverse lock out under the knob as well. I don't think there are too many people that have figure this one out without buying the whole B & M Short shift complete assembly.

I'd have to look at how they are attached and go from there. If I remember right on the cobalts they are not screwed on but pushed on then locked in by the boot, correct? Terrible design IMO, if it came down to it you could always thread the shifter to accept a shift knob. I would have to look at the shifter before giving you a definite answer, I don't want to say yes and not be able to deliver. =]

I'll be running around town alot this week, I also plan on attending the ardmore car show, and trying to squeeze in whatever else I can.

I will be caring this with me all week for anyone wanting to see how it fits their hand and wants to get a feel for the weight of it.

I am still looking for more input on this if anyone else has any comments, question, concerns or anything please post it up!

Like I said when we were talking today man, give me another week or 2 to get some more feedback, and I will start getting them produced. I will be able to get any thread pitch put on them.

First batch will probably be a group buy, and have the best price. After that, depending on demand and popularity we will price accordingly and start selling on an order by order basis.

I hope that everyone that has had a chance to see and hold this item for themselves has liked the product that we are offering.

Keep the suggestions and comments coming!

Man I really liked the weight. I hope we can get a fitment on the Cobalt cause I'll for sure get one. Even my co-workers liked it. I'm the only one there with a manual tho lol.
