Why Do You Speed?

I know we all have a different motivation for speeding, but I'm curious as to what it may be?

And on the opposite side of it, why do you not speed if you don't?

I don't due to gears, 65 is what I roll on 565. Backroads are a little different because I like carving corners sometimes.

For the most part I don't. I know this seems dumb but honestly for across town trips your not going to save more then 5 minutes tops so is it really worth it????? I'm not saying I go exactly the speed limit but I don't drive like people would expect me to when they ride with me.

So true.. Seems like everyday someone will come flying past me only to be side by side at the next red light.. I find it funny tbh.

I don't speed because I like getting quotes for car insurance and when they ask about when I had my last ticket or accident and the look on their face when I say 1996

Are we talking 100 in a 45 or 55 in a 45... speeding is speeding whether your 5 or 50mph over the speed limit to me. I don't "race" down these roads but I don't usually do more then 10mph over the speed limit

The more I race, the slower I drive on the street. I try to do what motorcycle guys refer to as "The Pace". On back roads I still enjoy the corners, but keep it at 7/10, depending on site distance and entrances. On straight away's I never go over 70 MPH, waiting for the next series of corners. On interstates I speed a little. It depends on traffic. I will follow some fast dude about 1/8 mile back with detectors blazing. I will eventually match his speed. I do back off when passing other cars for safety, then hammer back down. I have found an empty Interstate and blasted to 135 to 145 range for a short periods. When I do stupid stuff in cars I am by myself and don't endanger others.

I also have a clean driving record with this method. One ticket that stuck in 34 years of motorcycles and cars. No wrecks caused by me. I got hit at a red light once. Not my fault

See, I've been wrestling with this exact logic myself. Is it really worth it for that extra 5 mins?

You get about 1 minute for each mph, but then if you factor in the time/energy/cost of a ticket, I'm sure it knocks that down to where you've actually lost time.

I actually drive slower in my fast cars because I'm just enjoying them instead of rushing to get somewhere. Well, until I've had to start daily driving the Porsche.

If you're running 5min late, then it is worth that 5min.

I usually run 10mph over just about everywhere. I'm 24 and haven't had a *speeding* ticket since I was 16.

Ahh...makes sense now. Wait until the Fisker Karmas start driving around town--they have no exhaust note.

On the track, because of the rush, feel, power and sound of a big block (460 & 428CJ). Why else?!

Only time I speed is when I'm showing someone how awesome 2nd gear is in the Cobalt lol. Just in 2nd I can get to about 60 or 65 MPH. Most the time I'm just cruising cause I do drive a red car and I know I have a huge target stuck to both sides for police to "redeye" me lol. This is why I like auto cross, you can take turns as fast as you want without police trouble and worrying about hitting another car .
