Vintage racecars reveal new insights into man and machine

My brother just sent me this article about how Stanford researchers are using modern sensors to discover the secrets of how antique sports cars handle, to help build the cars of the future:

Interesting. It seems like they're just taking modern racing telemetry and putting it into vintage racers. What would be interesting is if they compare their data with what's coming from the professional racing world of Formula 1, Indy, American Grand Am and others.
