Electric Cut out install

Who can do it, and roughlly how much should I save up for. $500. I want to go this route on the GTO, but not sure if i would be better off buying the stuff, wiring it my self and then having a muffler shop fab it in, or have them do it all.

I know EvilZ had his ZO6 done, it sounded clean and simple

We can wire it up to a switch for you if you'd like.

thanks Beck - if I do this i just might let you handle the wiring. Just trying to decide which ones would be decent. found these and they seem priced right. I want to install these before the rear muffler so this would be good

^regular cutouts

^low profile (which is what i had on my car)

I've never been under a stock gto but i know that from looking around under a friends with headers and a full exhaust you should be able to run the regular ones. Wiring is cake. The guy that welded mine only charged $50 and i would think it if anything it would be less on your car because of having more room. In my opinion DMH is the only way to go, they have a great warranty (4 year).

I actually like the install of the low-profile as it seems to keep the stock exhaust flow better since it's just like a side of the exhaust just opens up versus having a diverter that's blocked off or open. I don't think it would make any real difference, but I know it probably would from a fluid dynamics standpoint.

For the price, I'd probably go with the DMH one as well. The verbage in the ebay listing 'IMPROVED WATER RESISTANT GEARMOTOR WITH ALL STEEL GEARSETS' and 'NEW IMPROVED VALVE DESIGN!' indicates to me they had a problem in the past, even if it is a 5yr warranty.

thanks for the info - Am I crazy to want to put these toward the back of the car right before the mufflers instead of up front.

Not really you can put them anywhere. The closer they are to the headers the louder they will be though.

BTW those links i posted should be the cheapest place on the web. As you all know I'm all about finding deals.
