coming back from Suby training in ATL yesterday, what did i see on I20?
regular tag, 45-50 yr old blonde woman driving it chatting away on her phone. pic sucks because of the glare, but the car looked pretty good in person.

For $100 more you can get a base model WRX with 265 HP and AWD according to Subaru's website. Does not seem worth it to pay that much for a BRZ, but just my opinion.

Depending on how the car is classed by the SCCA will determine it's true competition. If it's in B-stock, it's up against the likes of s2000s and Porsche Boxsters.

Nice! I wonder if she even know what she has, lol.

This car is supposed to be 'more than the sum of its parts' with a driving experience that's supposed to be second to none. From all the previews/reviews, either they've paid a lot of people in the media to hype up the car or it really lives up to that.

I emailed the sales manager at Landers McLarty on Thursday and had a brief exchange.

He told me that there is supposed to be a BRZ coming in this month but that it is already sold and the owner is planning on picking it up within a few hours of arrival (I don't blame them).

He also informed me that they are supposed to get 4 more between then and November. So hopefully one will be around long enough to see and test drive!

this is one of those performance cars that seems to be good at everything.......except performing

its slower than a '12 V6 mustang AROUND a track... and I won't even mention a drag race against said car....

I can't wait until the ricers get a hold of these, lol

look at that torque curve

base GT Mustang $30,000, 1SS Camaro $31,000 or this thing for $25,000? which in a car like a GT or Camaro, you'd GLADLY give up options just for the acceleration, in this thing... you might want every option possible, because the acceleration is lacking

With all due respect, this car simply isn't for you. It's a track car. Around certain tracks the V6 Mustang will absolutely overtake this car due to its power, but the BRZ is a canyon carver and it absolutely demolishes pony cars around the twisties.

Don't get me wrong. I'll likely be purchasing a newer car in the next year or two and the 5.0 S197 Mustang is quite high on my list, but let's call a spade a spade here. The BRZ is by far the better handling car, and that's exactly the niche this car is trying to fill.

With a new Camaro's IRS and more HP. I say this thing doesn't stand a chance on twisting canyon roads, Barber, or the 1/4. I like the styling, but that's about it. Now the stang with its solid rear axle may be a different story

That is a odd torque curve for sure. It falls right on its face between 3-4 grand

from what i understand the flat spot is tuned into them. i don't remember the reason, but when it was explained it made sense.
this car will probably be good at carving cones, but on a actual track, i'm pretty sure it would have more than it wanted with any of the V8 pony cars, and the even the V6 Camaro, Mustang, and Genesis would post faster times. thats not what this car is built for.
Comparing this car to a Camaro SS and Mustang GT is like comparing a F1 car to a go cart. one is fast and powerful, one is small and nimble. oranges to oranges.

Like I said. I like the cars looks All I have heard was what this car wasn't meant for. What is the car meant for if carving corners, road courses or straight line aren't it. These things are stout on GT5. I'll post a pic of mine from the game later

I don't think this car is as much about performing as it is about being fun and easy to drive spiritedly. It's the driving experience that seems to get all the attention as opposed to the specs.

I would think that's on purpose for highway cruising.

I don't want any power taken out of anything I drive. Why would you tune the middle of the torque curve out of a car. ESP when it's not some large number for durability reasons. I don't think that's the range you cruise the highway in anyway. 3300-4700 rpm

they are both boxers... that's about it. the FA20 shares no parts with the EJ25. the FA20 has direct injection, chain driven cams and a front feed intake manifold, where the EJ25 has standard injection, belt driven cams and rear feed intake. the basic engine architecture is the same, but thats pretty much where it ends.
