That's what it's always about--making things your own by borrowing from everything and making something new.

BRZ priced at $25.5k

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/05/2...ntent=FaceBook

Quote:
Subaru announced today that the starting price of its much anticipated BRZ sports car will be $25,495 when it goes on sale. We don't have an exact date, but Subaru says it will arrive in dealerships "this spring."

The starting price of $25,495 does include a destination charge of $750* and will get you the BRZ Premium with a six-speed manual transmission. Choosing a six-speed automatic will add $1,100 for a new total of $26,595. That price of admission does, however, include a touchscreen navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and HID headlamps.

Those who require more pampering can step up to the BRZ Limited with a base price of $27,495 for the manual-equipped model. Adding the automatic again bumps the price by $1,100 to $28,595. Limited models also get heated seats with Alcantara inserts and leather bolsters, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lights, keyless entry/start and a body-color rear spoiler. The last and most expensive configuration comes when opting for seats fully covered in leather, which raises the starting price to $27,495 for the manual model and $28,595 for the automatic.

Even fully loaded, the 2013 Subaru BRZ appears to come in safely under $30,000, thought it is more expensive than its sibling, the 2013 Scion FR-S, which starts at $24,200 but doesn't come with a nav system or leather as an option. Based on our experience driving the car, that's a reasonable price to pay for such a high level of rear-wheel-drive handling. What do you think?

Let the revolution begin. The world needed a sub-30k sports car again.

That isn't a photoshop. It is the real thing. Possibly what the convertible will look like?

I'm not a fan but I wonder how it will sell.

Well it definitely isn't production. A few images down from that on the link shows the interior. It is definitely a custom car or a prototype. But I'm just wondering what styling cues and such will be present in the actual convertible.

Again, I have to say that I won't be buying it. But it is interesting. The more they want to throw on the road...the better than ends up being for everything except resale value.

So top of the line auto are just below the $30k mark, so $30k out the door will be a good deal. Not bad for a fully-loaded and fun daily driver that's occasionally autocrossed.

Except for the fact that they've been dynoing at 165whp.

$30k for 165whp isn't that great...

That about what I expected. I think this is a 'sum of the parts is more than the parts' type of car. Each component on its own isn't impressive, but the overall product is.

with 200hp at the flywheel, 165 at the wheel isn't really a surprise.
i sure the torque management and IRS aren't helping the numbers.

Some news I scalped from FT86Club.com (like always)

BRZ Custom Configuration: http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/index.html

And according to this post and the article inside (from a Japanese news outlet):
http://www.ft86club.com/?p=1463

But of course I can't read it and see if that is actually what it says or is true. However, I can definitely imagine it being the case.

And for those of you who are into Hot Wheels:

Wow, more buzz on this car than I think even they anticipated. That's what happens when you do it right! Now, as long as there are no build quality issues, this will be the biggest home run for the Japanese in a decade.

Well...since this thing has done nothing but draw comparisons to the MX-5.
