A chilly start to the day didn't stop over 60 cars from coming out to play. And once the sun was shining on us, the temps rose into the 50s. If the wind wasn't blowing, it would have been near perfect weather for a mid-December event.

But the surface was still very cold from the night hours, and was quite slippery as one silver s2000 found out in a little off-road excursion. I had just gotten to the event, so I'm glad I missed that action. I never like to see mishaps, especially when I personally know the driver. He gave me a ride at Milton Frank when I autocrossed the Porsche for the first time, giving me a good idea of what the car should run. He was 5 seconds faster than me that day. Experienced driver for sure. I was glad to see him and the car were okay.

Being the last official event of the year brought out people I haven't seen all year, even if just to swing by and spectate for a bit. The course was fairly smooth with a quick finish. I could easily see a different line taken by faster drivers that cut off a few tenths in the finish.

There were some unique cars out that you normally don't see in the autocrossing world. One from the drift world, and another from the world of drag racing. And both competed well.

And the almost 400whp white Mitsubishi will be competing in an upcoming charity time-distance rally that will drive down part of the east coast next year. Be sure to watch for it.

I was able to stay warmer than I was expecting to, and so was able to stay the whole day taking pictures in the nearly perfect light. There's some really good ones in there too. Enjoy! -- Samir

I had thought about trying to find someone to co drive with but with highs only the mid 40's I think I'll be staying at home.

I'm 50/50. A friend of mine wants to autocross his cts-v one more time before the end of the year so we'll see. I'm hoping it works out because at the night event I was just getting comfortable in the car one the last run. I think with 3 more runs the car could be some what competive, who knows.

Too bad Ed's retired his cts-v from racing. That would've given you a really good benchmark. That's one fast Caddy!

And Ed ran his Caddy one more time! With the stock front sway bar, but it was still smoking. It would be neat to see that car run in the NCCC Autocrosses that come to JHP each year.

Some great in-car video of runs from today:

Cool video's. The guy who I was going to co drive with had some stuff come up. Plus I enjoyed sleeping in.

I was thinking Sunday about how I've been really really really lazy this year about getting out to events. I think I only did 3 auto crosses, went to the drag strip 3 times, only went to a handful of local crusie in's, and went to 4 bigger no local show's. Maybe next year I'll get out more, well hopefully.

We all have something come up in life, and it's balance fitting in everything we'd like to do in the limited time we have. You've actually hit more events than most I know, so don't feel bad about it. Besides, this isn't a quantity thing, but a quality thing. As long as you had fun, that's all that matters.

Thanks for the event coverage Samir. Now hoping for a quick and short offseason, but just enough time to save up and start the build and preparations for next season.

I almost made it out to this event just to watch, my 95 Mustang is still down. My buddy was the one running the Talon out there. Gonna go help him do some boost leak testing this afternoon on that car haha.

Should have come out there and froze with us. It actually wasn't that bad. It was good to see the Talon out there. I almost forgot how distinct the sound of a tuned DSM is.

Definitely hope you get some of the older auo-x events posted.
I'd like to get a few pictures from the 5 or 6 events I was in (especially the long fast course at Milton Frank), but those were the ones you haven't got to yet - busy time....

Thanks for the postings!!
