what is the point of that contest? how many people normal people are just out of the blue are going to be able to come up with the money to pay the taxes on a $380,000 car... the last new car tax rate I could find for Utah is like 4.7%... that is over $17,000... sure it'd be worth for someone to go borrow the money and profit but what about a person who wins the contest with no credit? would be hard for a lot of people to come up with $17,000 out of the blue...

I'd do just that, borrow the money, pay the taxes... sell the car, pay the loan off and profit, which is the sensible thing to do, it'd honestly cost me more for just insurance on that car than my Camarofor payment and insurance a month.......

A friend of mine on vacation won the grand prize on the Price is Right. He won a trip and 2 Chevy Malibu's. They basically had to give back one car to cover all taxes. But he did drive one home and had a killer 2 weeks in Hawaii. Giving away a car like that is silly. Just give them the cash.

As much fun as that car would have been, I'd have paid the taxes and parked it. Then throw it up for sale and pocket 6 digits. The insurance, even for this old guy, would probably be pretty high and it's not like anyone around here could even work on it given any repair costs.

And it would suck if it were wrecked before I could sell it...wait, doh! I can't imagine how much that car just depreciated now that it's been wrecked.

They may work on them, but they are not an authorized service facility, right?

That I'm not sure of. I'd have to ask Kosmo.

The V10 R8's are pretty much a Gallardo (and they've done work on a silver Gallardo) so I know they are experienced with at least that model.

If I were in his shoes.... I would sell the Merc and use the coin to buy a used Gallardo and throw the rest into my pocket.

The quoted rates on my 1996 Galant for full coverage was $3800/yr for a car I paid $3700 for. Makes me feel better that a Lambo is within my reach for just a few thousand more, lol.

Cars like this make you feel superhuman since their limits are so high. You can do just unbelievably silly things in them, so it's hard to know when they'll let go.

I could pull out in the middle of a city intersection in the 997 Turbo I once rented in Dallas without any problems since I could accelerate to the speed of traffic in less than a second. The interstate was the same. I never came close to learning the limits of the car.

That is a lot of money to pay for taxes and such, but considering what you get for it and could potentially turn around and sell it for, it's a bargain.

I used to play along all the time on tv and would win almost everything everytime. Someday I'd like to go, lol.

There's a few people in town that can work on them, but being able to work on them and being trained to work on them are two different things. Although I'm sure any engine/drivetrain service would be close enough that the R8 training would cover it.
