school me on 03/04 bmw 325i

I'm considering purchasing one of these cars and was wondering what if any issues or problems they have. Talk me into or out of this car.

The maintenance is high, as is any German car. The performance may not be enough for what you are used to. And you may feel that the BMW owner culture is different than what you're used to.

Personally, if I had that type of money and was thinking German, even with all its issues, I'd go Mercedes or Porsche (despite my personal issues with my own car). Audi is making a very attractive product these days, but from what I've been told by those that have worked on them, the maintenance is still insanely over-complex compared to the other German marques, although Audi does offer a maintenance package that puts them on par with BMWs service offerings.

Personally, I see you as too much a driver for a BMW. Porsche would be more your marque.

Its not for me, or a car that will get driven hard. Its for the fiancee. We need a new commuter/4 door car. Its hard to find 4 door cars in my price range that are any what remotely fun or exciting. I'd much rather have a bimmer than an accord. Not worried about maintance costs, as I will take care of that myself. Granted I know it will still be more than an old ford, but thats the nature of the beast.

I guess I should have specified that its strictly a commuter, not a hot rod. No desire to mod the car at all. Well, maybe other than rimps, tint, and drop

Ahh, makes more sense now. There's a lot less you can do on German cars yourself without specialized tools. Figure 2x on maintenance over an Accord.

Personally, if it is just for commuting and minor bolt-ons, I'd go Japanese over German for the pure reliability. Although I have to admit that Japanese reliability isn't is what it once was, and the domestic and Korean makes give a good run for the money now. German for just daily commuting without any other advantage is just a status symbol imo.

baller (on a budget) son! I just find 4 door sedan's boring tasteless cars. I can count on one hand how many actual 4 doors I'd like to own. Needless to say, they don't fit into my budget. I just felt like the bimmer was a set above a accord. I can get into a bimmer and commute/drive it without feeling like I want to put a gun to my head.

You say that now, but once you own one you may feel otherwise. My friend Robbie wish he never got rid of his sti for a 5 series. But today he does love his 335 sedan. Hey that might work for you if its budget.

We strongly considered a WRX. I just feel like the up front money for one is more and the maintance will be similar. I also have a hard time finding one in my price range that isn't A)have a billion miles on it or B)Riced out beyond fast and the furious. I am STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY opposed to buying a WRX that has been modded. I just don't see those as cars that have lived an easy life. Where as most BMW's have never been anything more than commuter cars.

If it was me.. I would go buy a Lexus IS300. Remember with any car you plan to buy get a pre-purchase inspection. Also you may want to go talk to Richard Noel at Noel Automotive in Meridianville. He always has 3 series BMW on the lot.

I'd just like one bone stock. Reliable, nimble, and fun to drive. And it seats 4.
