May 1st to December 31st 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
Where: Village of Providence, 7 Town Center Dr, Huntsville, AL 35806
Contact: Call/text Samir 615-512-5520 www.huntsvillecarscene.com

This is a meet. This is a cruise-in. This is just a good time hanging out and talking with your friends and fellow enthusiasts while perusing the cars that have come out. If you remember the old Dairy Queen Meet/Cruise-in in Madison from years past, this event is a reboot of that. It is a family-friendly environment with plenty to eat so bring your kids.

This event is for every enthusiast in the area, young or old, for any enthusiast vehicle new or old, fast or slow, on road or off, 2-wheeled or 4. There is no registration fee, no door prizes or anything like that. Just a good time with fellow enthusiasts.

From Huntsville Car Scene.com: http://www.huntsvillecarscene.com/sh...#ixzz3VbDS5tEK

UPDATED:

This event is in the spirit of the old Dairy Queen Cruise-In in Madison. If you loved that event, you'll love this one—same atmosphere, same vibe, same fun, and even more food choices.

Please enter from the front on the ramp over the sidewalk in front of The Brickhouse AFTER 5 PM (please allow the staff time to set up for the event). We will have some signs posted and cones placed to help aid with parking. Once the front lawn is full we will start parking on the rear lot. If that area fills up please find a parking spot around the grass.

The goal of this meet is to provide a fun family friendly environment. ALL CARS ARE WELCOME and parking will be FIRST COME FIRST SERVE however we do reserve the right to save a few spots for select cars.

Thanks again for everyones continued support and thanks a ton to everyone that helps make this event a success.

Like the old DQ event, this event is rain or shine and year round. See you there!

This event is held in conjunction with the Village of Providence, who graciously permits enthusiast vehicles to park on their grassy park at the center of Providence, surface permitting. When the ground may not be able to support the weight of vehicles, the parking spots adjacent to the park will be used. Parking notifications will be posted here on Huntsville Car Scene.com. This event is rain or shine and year round, just like DQ used to be.

The entrance for the grass field is behind the grass field. There is a small gravel road leading from the pavement. Follow the signs with arrows at the stop sign at Brickhouse. And if you're unsure, feel free to ask someone or contact me directly at 615-512-5520. I may not be able to answer calls immediately the day of the event due to volume, so feel free to call me in advance and I'll explain exactly where to go.

And just like DQ, there are discounts on food at the following restaurants:
  • Mellow Mushroom - 15%
  • Moe's Original BBQ - free banana pudding
  • Sweet Cici's - 20%
  • Tony's Little Italy - 10%
And if you want a meal for free, just stop by at Huntsville Car Scene supporter Liberty Mutual Insurance in Providence for a free quote on your auto and home insurance, and they'll send you a gift card for dinner at your restaurant of choice in Providence. Just have your proof of insurance and ID.

Come out and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Providence in your favorite ride. See you all there!

Here's a great detailed 3D map of the parking areas by gorkoracing:

No need for that. All are welcome! Just have to keep everyone happy. I don't mind hearing a booming for 5 seconds and then wondering where it came from, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's just like exhaust notes.

It's a public event, but like this public site people will shy away from places where they are not warranted if the atmosphere is right. We need to create that atmosphere, leading by example, and express our disappointment when we see something the event does not condone.

Roger, you don't have to be like that. You just have to understand that why everyone at the event thinks it's cool as can be, the people that aren't involved with the event see it as just loud music. There is a time and a place to show off you stereo and i hate that this just isn't one of them. Hopefully this won't keep you away, or you could just bring the vette.
I don't think it's that dramatic, but it is an issue that needs to be addressed before it does become something serious.

I found some discontent from the loud music even in the enthusiast community so it's not necessarily people outside the event that may have an issue with it. Bottom line is that a little bit is okay--you just have to be aware of what crosses the line.

Hey, hey! No need to go that far. Remember that hate only begets hate.

Yeah, that's probably close to the truth too. But it's in short bursts so it's more short-lived. Imagine if he held it at 6000rpm for 15 seconds. I think even we might find it a little much.

I lost some oil pressure on the way to the speakerbox meet. Cut the oil filter open to find what looked like a ground up penny! So its on to phase II. Fully forged and upping the boost.

But back to the original topic. Isn't there an event permit you can get so you don't have to worry about sound ordinance? Not saying you want loud music playing the entire time but for the guys like me who play it long enough to show what it has and then cut it off?

I'm sure a permit is possible, but then you start getting into the cost of such a permit, etc.

And I'm sure 5-10 seconds are enough to show what it can do. At least as a preview anyways. I don't really know anywhere that you can show off the full system without violating the sound ordinance. I don't understand how this ordinance passed without our opinion on it.

I spoke with Mellow Mushroom, Moes, and Cicis today about the economic impact and a possible discount. They were all happy with the hump in business and will be getting back to me to see what they can do.

Wonder what Grille29 would do....

I went to Phuket last Thursday for my weekly sushi and Crown Royal ration and asked if they had any uptick from the meet on Wednesday. "Not really, we did samples but we only got one or two folks that walked over." Combined with what Samir posted about their experience makes me wonder if we need to find a way to help support the expensive places too somehow.

Hopefully we won't alienate the expensive places in the process of using their neighborhood for a meet and driving business to the less expensive places in the neighborhood.

I think the 'more expensive' places will get business once this becomes a regular event and people realize they can bring out their wives for a nice dinner. Phuket's location puts them at a bit of a disadvantage distance-wise, so I can see how this may not help them.

However, there's a variety of promotions they could to do take advantage of the crowd. I'll speak to them when I get a chance and see what can be done. If you talk to them before I do, ask them what they would like to do and what type of return they would like on their investment.

Grille 29 served brats for the car show last October. If there's enough of a crowd and demand, I could see them doing that.

I'm still really embarrassed about the comment that was made to the Phuket employees. Maybe we need to have a HCS dinner there and help smooth things over, haha.

I'll admit that of the choices of places to eat out there it would be last. Reason - price is number one and two my son rather have pizza over sushi any day. They have to be able to take advantage of any prospects they can. I would think 5 extra tables getting filled for them would be a big hit. Just my .02

Price-wise, I think they're in-line with the mid-range out there, which isn't but a few dollars more overall.

But I have to agree with you that Asian cuisine isn't the first thing most car enthusiasts hunger for. There will be the occasional sushi buff like myself, but that will be the exception.

One more thing. We are there the same time the brick house is having their patio party. You know that going on down on the other end of a sidewalk hurt them more than anything! It's all about the free economy and how/what you do to take advantage of it

But the patio party ends at 7pm while we run later. But again, the crowd there generally aren't looking for Asian cuisine. It's just a matter of demographics that seems to work against them.

Phuket should have recognized some regular customers of theirs while they were out and about...martini cutomers at that.
