Would You Buy Prints of Pictures on Huntsville Car Scene.com?

I'm going to go ahead and move to a new system in the next 2 months that will allow slideshows, more dial-up friendliness, and allow people to purchase prints of pictures on Huntsville Car Scene.com.

But I was curious to see if anyone will actually buy prints. Shipping via this company will be $1.50 for up to 10 prints and the cost of a 4x6 print will be around $1. All the proceeds will help to fund the site.

So tell me what you think.

I probably would if I saw a certain picture of my vehicle that I really thought was something special, but other than that - unless there were nudity involved - probably not. LMAO!!!!

If the picture was unusual...

If it was an unusual angle or exceptionally good picture of my car (or a friends) or something I really liked I would be willing to buy, especially knowing that the proceeds would go toward supporting this excellent site. Although I tend to prefer my pictures in digital format rather than actual prints so I can share with friends online and use as desktop background or screensaver. Throw a few good looking models in the pics and the chances of selling a few prints would definitly increase!

Keep up the good work Samir!

Blow it up!

Would we be able to order other (larger) sizes also? I might buy a big poster size version of a really good pic of my car or about 8 X 10 that could be framed. There is one pic on the site of a pals vehicle that would make a great Christmas or other occasion gift if it was blown up and framed. He'd like that!

Yes and no. Some of the older pictures may not be able to be that large, but once I start shooting for the new system's capabilities, then it is possible. But then the problem is I really need a Canon 20D. None of the existing cameras would be able to keep up with continuous shutter shots at higher resolution.

The new picture system is almost complete. Some of the pricing is marginally higher than posted earlier. Shipping is actually $1.75 (vs $1.50) for up to 10 prints, and the 4x6 prints will be more like $1.25 vs $1.

And some good news is that there will be much more than just prints available--t-shirts, magnetic decals, puzzles, ceramic tiles, and much more.

So how's 30x40 for a poster? Yep, that's one of the sizes you'll be able to order prints in.

The print ordering system is integrated into the new image gallery system. You'll be able to just click "buy this print" and pick the size. Then it's a done deal and on its way to you. And a portion of the sale goes to help fund this site.

Thanks for the props. I actually only have one event that I know of right now and that's just a club year-end party.

Well, the new picture system is up and running. All pictures will be converted over to this new system, including some never posted before.

Next system in the works--faster videos!

i POSTED THIS IN ANOTHER THREAD AND i DECIDED TO POST IT IN HERE SINCE IT SEEMED TO GO ALONG MORE WITH THE FLOW. I just screwed up typing that and I'm not fixing it...lol

I really like it, but I have noticed one thing I dont like. Pictures can not be saved. I want to be able to save a picture of a friend's ride or mine for that fact if I like it. I understand making some revenue for the site, but I assumed that the price being charged would be for an actual hard copy of the picture, not for the picture itself as it is on the website. Clarify for me a bit Samir.

I knew that this would be brought up by somebody. Glad it was you Jay.

Pictures cannot be saved, only linked. That's the way it has always intended to be. (The TOS goes into more detail in section 12).

I've always been lenient on the enforcement of section 12 for personal use, ie as a desktop background or a print to display at home or at a show.

But lately I've found that these pictures have been posted all over the place with no mention or credit to Huntsville Car Scene. It's one thing to put it as a desktop. It's another to make it everyone's desktop. That doesn't help or support Huntsville Car Scene.com.

But since this is a world in which people tend to not care about copyrights or electronic stealing, I've just had to shut that completely off. No more saving. Sorry that the rotten few spoiled it for the rest of us.

Any pictures taken from Huntsville Car Scene without express permission are in violation of US copyright laws. Possession of Huntsville Car Scene copyrighted material is a federal offense punishable by law.

Section 12 of the Terms of Service has said that from day one, but for some reason people don't care about such things until they are served a subpena.

I've never been hardnosed about this until I've noticed people taking advantage of it. I never thought that giving credit was so much to ask. The pictures and videos have and will always be here for everyone to enjoy them. I'm just taking measures now to prevent the abuse. Sorry Jay.

I understand completely where you're coming from, and I am sure you have thought it out. Have you tossed around the idea of watermarking the pictures? I will ask you another question when I give you a call later on tonight, if you'll just remind me about it.
