The blind spot only happens when your mirrors aren't set right. I had to learn really quickly how this works since I couldn't look to the sides on my Corvette. And once I got used to it, I set all my mirrors this way. I never have to look over my shoulder, just check all my mirrors.

Yeah your side mirrors should be pointing toward the blind spots, not the car behind you.
