Local Car Washes

Did a quick search of the forum, and I didn't find any recommendations on car washes.

Do any of you guys go to and recommend any of the local car washes?

Not the drive through kind like Goo-Goo, but one where some one actually washes your car and doesn't scratch it up.

Not quite a detail shop, but one where they do a pretty good job all around....including the brake dust from the wheels.

thanks in advance.

Stay away from Lee's Magic Tunnel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your just looking for a wash/vac the place on university in front of the Chevy dealer does ok, there is also a guy off Hughes road behind the Phillip's 66 gas station. I always do my own so i really don't know first hand I'm just going by what I've been told.

I typically hand wash, but I have heard the guy on Hughes behind Phillips 66 does a good job.

If you want to do it yourself and need a higher powered wash the place on Jeff Rd. across from Monrovia Elementary is one of the better ones I've found and has space for detailing after the wash.

stay away from the place in front of the chevy place if you have a hot rod. There has been some reports of engine revving and general abuse to customer's cars. Down the street though, splash car wash is good so I've heard.

I haven't seen this splash place. I'll have to keep an eye out.

Good heads up on the place in front of Chevy if that's the case. I took my G35 there prior to selling for headlight restoration. They did a good job, but I stayed by the car the entire time (not that it was a hotrod anyways, haha)

The Splash place is down close to sparkman and university. Used to be a drive through beat your paint off car wash, now its a hand wash place. Although I think they still use the air dryer part of the old carwash.

Talk to our site sponsor In Depth Auto Detailing. I'm sure he's got a great wash that's in the same price range as the places mentioned in this thread.

The detailing place in front of the Chevy dealership as well as behind the Phillips 66 on Hughes are the same company. The owner really cares about detailing and quality and is committed to instilling that in all his employees. He has an exclusive contract to detail all the cars for the Lexus dealership, so if you have a Lexus you're already getting his details.

This is almost any place where you have to leave your car, so always be mindful of this.

How good did they look after? Did they seal them after they polished them?

Well, the one they did looked great. The other one was brand new due to a complete headlight replacement which lead to me getting the one restored. I couldn't tell you how well the work held up since the car was sold a few weeks after. Now I use a Meguiar's sealant on my lights, but if there's a better product out there I'm up for suggestion!

I wasn't aware the place in front of Chevy and the Phillips 66 guy was the same business. Like I said, they did well on a friend's vehicle and I didn't have a problem, but I guess it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out. Just one case can be a poor reflection on an otherwise flawless business. Ya know?

Thanks to both of you for the recommendation. I do take pride in what I do and treat every car as if it is a $100,000 car. In fact a car I worked on in Colorado last year sold at Barrett Jackson last week for $90,000.

Samir, as soon as you get back in the states I need to get with you.
Thanks again!

The place in front of the Chevy dealer scrubbed my steering wheel so hard they ripped paint of the Honda emblem a while back.. I'm never going there again.

Recently had a decent experience with Lee's in so far as they were nice enough to squeeze my SUV in at a car rate and got it done in a helluva quick turnaround for a full shampoo interior/exterior whatnot. I kept pushing off cleaning the car for the wife and she made me do it, I just dropped into the first place I could find. Not a bad experience per-say but the employees sure do make you nervous...
