Huntsville Car and Bike Council

At the NAVWC meeting tonight I heard about something in the city of Omaha, NE that caught my attention. There, they have a "Car Council" which is a club within itself that consists of the Presidents of each of the local car clubs. This council would meet once every quarter to discuss their various clubs as well as work on joint, multi-club events that the council would organize that would involve all the clubs.

I know in the 70s there were some organizations like this here locally, but apparently everything in the car scene here died in the 80s and so did this organization. I think it may be time to bring this organization back to Huntsville.

I know a lot of key people get on this site regularly. If you see this thread, pass it on and see if we have enough of a consensus to put together a council of car and bike club presidents.

The purpose of this local council would be to have stronger communication between all the car and bike clubs as well as more cross-appreciation and support between the clubs. We are all separate clubs for obvious reasons. But I can't find one reason that says we can't all work together.

I'd love some feedback on this idea.

Van clubs are governed by regional councils and then there is a Council of Councils which is a group of leaders from all the councils. Council of Councils meets once a year, This weekend actually, and discuss events, have seminars, host a huge van show, and tour local shops of the host city. The smaller councils meet once every few months and discuss the regional shows and gatherings and work on community events. Then from there the clubs themselves meet. I think the Huntsville area needs at least a council where presidents and officers meet. This would minimize the overlap of local shows. I think if huntsville area started it it would grow to state level as there are so many clubs and shows throughout the season in our state and especially our region.

The International Council of Corvette clubs operates like that as well.

Ever watch biker boyz? Sounds a lot like that. I would agree with it completely as long as there were rules that were set out and agreed upon. I wouldnt want it turning ugly and start becoming a big beef between clubs. You'll see a pattern with me...I don't like being a part of anything that could ruin my reputation, and I like to analyze the situation and weigh the options, but I am mostly concerned with the bad end because the good end will handle itself.

This would probably be a lot more structured and at the same time a lot more laid back. It basically would be an extension of the synergy that has become centered around Huntsville Car Scene without Huntsville Car Scene being the center. It would have to be positive or it would fail.

I think that this is a Great Idea, I am going to pass this on to the PREZ of my club and find out what he thinks about it. I dont see anything wrong with making everyone a little more aquanted(?) with each other. And getting a little bit more organization in the Hunts-Vegas area.

I think, if done correctly, a council here would only make things better. There doesn't have to be a bunch of strict rules. Just all the officers getting together and discussing events so that there will be less doubling up on weekend events, it gets all the clubs more recognition, and it will help with attendance at events as everyone would be aware of events and would be more willing to support each groups efforts.

Granted there will be things, most likely, that people disagree with; but isn't that true for everything?

Well in that case...when do we get to make it so? I also have a place that we can hold meetings of the council.

Well, it helps if all the Presidents of all the clubs are on board.

Give the idea some time to get around. I plan to bring it up at the cruise since a lot of people from different clubs will be there.
