We’d like to welcome all classic car and vintage vehicle enthusiasts to join us for the 1st Annual Crusin’ on Main Street, where the classics will be doing what they are meant to do – Cruisin’ on Main Street.

The Crusin’ on Main Street event will be held on Friday night, August 8th, as part of The Main Event, a monthly event held by the Arab Downtown Association.

Lineup for the cruise is in the parking lot by Pardue’s Wings. Lineup is by 6:20 pm. The Cruise will begin at 6:30 pm and will go south on Main Street through the Downtown Area. We’ve invited the public to line the sidewalks to see the cruise and bring their cameras. The classic vehicles will turn right onto Cullman Rd. and turn right again on 2nd Street NW. This is the first street on the right, right by the laundry mat. This will take you to the parking area on 1st Ave NW, where you can show off your ride!

The Main Event is held on the 2nd Friday of each month, June-November and has artisans lining the sidewalks on Main Street, shops open late for evening hours, and cafes and diners are open for dinner, drinks or dessert. There is live music from 6-8 on two stages: the Main St. Stage is located on the corner of Main St. and 1st Ave NW and the second stage is inside Walker’s Coffee. You can hear a variety of live music. For August our headliner act is Hwy 231, a local band that will provide a variety of country and gospel music and they perform 7-8 pm.

At 8 pm, the corner of 1st Ave NW becomes a dance floor as DJ Paul Limperis brings the street dance to life for the evening hours. August’s theme is Feelin’ Groovy Sock Hop with a variety of 50s and 60s music. And you just can’t have 50’s and 60’s music without vintage vehicles – all vehicles 1969 or older are welcome: Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles and even Tractors!

Artisans wishing to participate can apply for acceptance on our website. No other vending allowed at this event please.

We hope you can join us. If you plan on coming, please call and let us know. We need an estimate on the number of cars that will be participating so we can block off enough parking area for you to show it off! There is NO registration fee. To register: Kathy 256-586-0345, Dawn 256-200-5270.

Please feel free to share this invitation with other vintage vehicle enthusiasts!

Is your RIDE READY?? See you at the cruise!

I wanted to point out they are limiting the entries to all vehicles 1969 or older. This leaves out some very nice vehicles in the area. This limitation will have a definite negative impact on the success. I have heard from several people in the area who will not attend because of this even though they have qualifying cars !!
Just a FYI

Are they restricting due to limited space/parking? Many events we attend have a year restriction due to limited space/parking

and the fact that many spectators want to see the older vintage and classic rides. We always hear comments from the side lines and spectators that they can see the newer rides every day on the streets and at the car lots.

And, unfortunately, this goes 2 ways. Many street rodders (pre-48) will not come out full force if the new rides are there

I posted on their Facebook page about this & they revised the flier to include all classic rides. They were very receptive.
